I’ve always wanted to be a nurse… ever since my mum fell sick years ago.

“I live in Goole, you probably haven’t heard of it. Up in Yorkshire. It’s so small.

I’m studying nursing – I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I think ever since my mum fell sick years ago; she had cancer. She was in a lot of pain and every time she went to the hospital they would say the same thing that it was some sort of stomach bug. Turns out she had septicaemia. She stayed in hospital for a while, but then when things were improving they eventually sent her home. She’s passed away now, a few years back. But it’s true when they say that it’s always better before it ends. She seemed fine for a while, but it turned out that she had developed a clot in her leg. And by then it was too late.

Nursing is tough, but I want to be doing something where I can help save lives – knowing what it feels like with what I’ve been through, I’d want to save people going through a similar thing”

The body is weird and wonderful and I want to be able to fix it when it ‘goes wrong’

I’ve just been out shopping at Westfield, and I managed to get through it all without getting angry once. So that’s already my first achievement of the day.

I grew up in Norfolk – and even though there’s not much to do there compared to London, I recommend everyone to visit there because its famous for Dinosaurs and its petting zoo. Trust me it’s amazing.

Right now I’m studying Physio, because… I want to fix people. The body is weird and wonderful and I want to be able to fix it when it ‘goes wrong’. People in my team get injured all the time. I’m big into roller blading so I’m used to seeing falls and injuries. And sure, I’ve been injured myself – i’ve actually broken both wrists. And also, I broke my ankle… on Valentine’s day… how’s that for a treat.

My word of advice: do a good thing every day, even carrying someone’s shopping. That’s what I do. So I have something to feel great about every day.

The other option I had was horse riding

“I’m studying theatre; I want to be performing in West End, that’s the dream; or on a cruise maybe if West End doesn’t work out. I came to London so I could focus on this. But right now I’m working at All Saints to build up the money I’ll need, but it’s just for another six months until I go out into the big bad world.

I had a big career decision to make at 17. The other option was horse riding. I would have gone to the England tracks and travelled around the country taking part in races. I’d have been representing the country. Of course I loved doing it, but something in me always pushed me to acting. The stardom, the big stage feeling maybe, I’m not too sure. So finally I chose theatre, that was my real passion I feel, and so I’m working towards making this come true.”

“Please and thanks go a long way…”

  • I just had my Christmas party and it was wicked! And now I’m taking the train to meet my friends for sushi, but I’m about an hour late, or more like hour and a half. And it’s 20 minutes until the next train, but it’s all fine, they know how to have a good time. This time of year is so fun – I can have a work party, take all these cool Christmas items, and now go and drink more with my friends. The lady I work for; love her to bits and at work she is so serious, but tonight I dragged her to dance, and she was loving it!
  • What dya think of my jumper? Everyone loved it, it was definitely the best one there.
  • ..one thing I always say .. Is Manners cost nothing. Please and thanks go a long way; that and a smile. People are so much more receptive when you smile and they are so much more likely to help you out and speak to you. So yeh, everyone should remember – a smile goes a long way and it doesn’t cost a thing. Gotta run, see ya!
